Prof. Ellen Desmet

Bio

Ellen Desmet is an assistant professor of migration law at the Law Faculty of Ghent University. She teaches migration law, coordinates the migration law component of the Human Rights and Migration Law Clinic and co-lectures legal anthropology. She is also a member of the Human Rights Centre and of the Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees (CESSMIR).

Until September 2016, Ellen Desmet was the project manager of the IAP “The Global Challenge of Human Rights Integration: Towards a Users’ Perspective”. Within WP2 on "Users’ trajectories in human rights law", her research focused on the development of an interdisciplinary human rights methodology. She also co-coordinated the case studies carried out in the DRC and China.
